About

I am a current sufferer of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). After many years of dieting, exercising, and doing whatever I could to try to lose weight, I realized that I needed some help. I've struggled with weight all of my life and nothing ever seemed to work for me, despite hours at the gym, healthy eating, and determination. I joined Dr. Bernstein on January 5, 2010 when I finally realized that I needed help in order to feel better and manage the symptoms of PCOS.

April 30, 2010

Happy today!

Here are my latest results:

Current weight as of April 29, 2010: 166.2 (-0.4 lbs since Wednesday)
Starting Weight as of Jan 5th/10: 218.4 lbs
Weight loss thus far: 52.2 lbs
Weight loss to go: 36.2 lbs

Well, I was told by the nurse today that I'm doing very well! I lost 11.4 lbs in APril which is good since I have missed a few injections due to the holiday and being sick last week!  She said that losing 52.2 lbs since January is awesome!  So that just motivated me even more to keep going!

I still have the big decision to make at how I"m going to survive my sister's wedding reception weekend at the end of June as I won't be at my goal weight by then.  Not sure if I will make that my end date since I will be roughly 10-12 lbs away from my goal or if I should just do the best I can over that weekend and continue with my diet until I've reached my goal. I just don't want to measure a weight gain after that weekend since I've worked so hard to get this far!  Decisions, Decisions!

I wrote a few weeks ago that I was decreasing my diet pop intake. I just thought I'd let everyone know that drinking diet pepsi does NOT affect your weight.  I have still lost the same amount of weight without drinking diet pop than while drinking it - so I've proven my theory correctly :-).  I still drink diet pop but not as much as I used to.  I am really enjoying decaffenated green tea and encourage everyone to drink it!  My skin and hair is so much nicer since I've been drinking it.  They say 4 or so cups of green tea a day provides you with enough antioxidants to fight all those yucky diseases out there!

Here's an update of the kinds of foods I'm eating now:

Breakfast:

Egg white omelete:
5/8 cup naturegg egg whites
8 oz of tomatoes, peppers, onions, mushrooms, green onions
Becel cooking spray and topping

18 Breton mini garden vegetable crackers
1 apple
2 cups of green tea (decaffenated) or 2 cups of lemon and ginger herbal tea

Lunch:

It depends on how I'm feeling but today I'm having:

1.75 oz of chicken breast
4 oz of spinach, tomatoes, peppers
2 tbsp Kraft fat-free italian dressing

5 oz of strawberries

Other days for lunch I have:

35 grams of cloverleaf flaked light tuna in water
1/2 tbsp of Kraft Calorie Wise Miracle Whip
4 oz of celery

Dinner:

1.75 oz of chicken breast
4 oz of broccoli, cauliflower, onions, and mushrooms
Becel Cooking Spray and Topping

Dessert:

1 cup of No Sugar Jello

Way to go Shenade! You're doing so well, and I know it must just feel great to see the inches melting off and getting into smaller clothes. I know what you mean by the decision points, but see how you feel when you get closer. Remember, if you do decide to take the weekend "off" to drink and enjoy the full meals/reception, it only takes a few days to get back into ketosis. You don't need to fully deprive yourself, and it's nice to just enjoy your sister's special day.

Keep up the great work!
